Hi All,
Gonna start one hour earlier due to heat, I will not make this one, so I will leave it to the line if you want to quite early due to the heat.
Working on Madera Fair Gig:
Here is how this will go down….think Stomp!
All drums are set up, most of the drumline will be sitting amongst the crowd, a snare drummer will walk up to his drum and slam some notes, never looking at the crowd like he is there by himself, than another snare drummer will do the same and or tenor player or bass drummer, we will have about four or five drummers do this. Mitch will start the UPS groove when he thinks it is time and that will trigger all drummers sitting amongst the crowd to get up and go to your drum and join in on the groove. Now we can have anybody that wants to jam a quick solo over the groove can do so, this whole thing should take about 4 or 5 minutes or longer if the crowd is into it. When Mitch feels the time is right, he will play some kind of signature lick and we will all hit Flinstones with the Rubble split, so the UPS groove must be at the tempo that Mitch will start the Flinstones with. Next we will hit Boston Massacre two or three times and than Kickin It Reggae Style Cadence two or three times, all depends on the time. Now we will encourage anybody from the crowd to walk up and we will teach them 8 & 8, we will end this section with a one shot from them, just like at Valley Fest, one shot at one clean note. We will end with the Handbone back sticking/Boston side sticking.
Joey is looking into hats for the line, he thought it would be cool if right before we do the Handbone/Boston solo we would turn the hats backwards, if he can’t secure free hats, than you will wear any baseball style hat you have along with sunglasses if the line wants to, we will all vote on this.
So, if you all could time this that would be great, we are looking at 15 to 20 minutes, I have not heard what dates and or times yet, might be one day or more.
